Am I a Problem?

Am I a Problem? by Quiniqua R. Anthony

The students in Ms. Essence’s class at Blossom Middle School did not know that they would come face to face with their innermost fears. They had gone through the motions everyday feeling less than themselves. Ms. Essence helps her students find their voices and encourages them to live their truths.

About

Quiniqua

I am originally from Chicago; however, I like to say that I'm from everywhere. This is attributed to being a military brat. I am the oldest child of all of my siblings. I mostly enjoy spending time with family and indulging in all things creative. I am one who tries to find the beauty in everything, which accounts for my love for the arts.

I am also a passionate educator. I've taught multiple disciplines with Art, English, and Science being my favorite subjects. I love to spread the joy for reading and learning to my students. I want them to hunger for knowledge and hunt for answers. There is so much innovation in education, and I plan to unlock as many avenues as possible.

Though I love to enhance the joy of obtaining knowledge in my students, sometimes there are uncontrollable factors that get in the way of making an initial impact. Children deal with so much in our troubled society. Many times they can not focus on learning because of the trials and tribulations they encounter in their personal lives. I've found that by building relationships with these students and providing a safe-haven for them while in my presence allows for me to truly make an IMPACT. I am not only able to help them obtain academic progress, but encourage them to build their self-confidence. My first book, "Am I a Problem?," is inspired by these children.
